The Coordination Center for Countering Violent Extremism in cooperation with the International Solidarity Association (SHIS) and with the support of the Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth have organized a round table on issues related to the creation of strong communities and demonstrated their commitment to promotion of the rule of law and respect for human rights, as prerequisites for Albania’s accession to the European Union. This meeting table was organized with the presence of the students of “Marie Logoreci” school.
At the center of the discussions was initially the presentation of the BRAVE project (Building resilience against Violent Extremism, by Mrs. Roberta Profka, Executive Director of SHIS), which was followed by discussions and the presentation of the plan with a focus on the prevention of violent extremism by representatives of the “Marie Logoreci” school. The purpose of the BRAVE project is to build safe and sustainable communities against violent extremism, through education and youth activation. Through the coordination of the CVE Center, it is becoming possible to select schools in high-risk communities to be involved in these activities to counter violent extremism, as well as to promote youth awareness initiatives to increase the awareness resilience of communities against these phenomena.
This cooperation comes within the CVE Center’s strategy for further explaining and countering radicalism and violent extremism in schools. Children are one of the most vulnerable groups at risk from radicalism and extremism and therefore it is more necessary to hold information sessions related to these topics. Awareness in schools will make it much easier to identify cases of radicalism and violent extremism by the students themselves and to deal with them by the relevant mechanisms. Children and their safety and further protection from issues related to radicalization and violent extremism remain a priority for the CVE Center.
