The Director of the CVE Center, Mrs. Lejdi Dervishi conveyed the opening remarks in the first National Steering Committee established in the framework of the “Building institutional capacity in the Western Balkans to deal with challenges related to reintegration, resocialization, and rehabilitation of returning foreign terrorist fighters (RFTF) and their families from conflict zones”, organized by International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Albania with the financial support of The European Union.

During the meeting were discussed the project objectives, outcomes, activities implemented as of today, and the way forward to it. The overall objective of this three-year project is to strengthen the response of the Western Balkans in preventing and countering violent extremism.

The project will assist governments in the Western Balkans to prepare for and implement policies to reintegrate and rehabilitate Western Balkan returnees from conflict zones in line with human rights and the responsibilities laid out in the United Nations Security Council Resolution 2396 (2017) and the EU Strategy for Combating Radicalisation and Terrorism.
