The Director of the Coordination Center for Countering Violent Extremism, Mrs. Lejdi Dervishi contributed by participating in the panel of the 6th Multi-Agency Forum for the Action Plan against violent extremism, which was organized by the CVE Center and the Institute for Activism and Social Change (IANS), in cooperation with the General Directorate of Prisons.
During the forum, Mrs. Dervishi stressed the necessity and importance of joint inter-institutional engagement in preventing the phenomenon of radicalism within the internal systems of prisons and the Probation Service. In the forum participated leaders of the prisons of Fier, Berat, and Vlora, representatives of the Regional Directorate of Police, religious communities, the Office of the Prefect, as well as judges and prosecutors.
The forum was held in the framework of the program “Improving penitentiary capacity to address prison radicalism in the Western Balkans”, which is part of the joint program of the European Union/Council of Europe Horizontal Support for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022.
