In the premises of the Korça Rectorate, the cooperation agreement was signed between “Fan S. Noli” University and the Coordination Center for Countering Violent Extremism, “Universities, the new front of CVE – consolidation and expansion of the involvement of university education in the fight against extremism violently”.
The purpose of the cooperation agreement is the implementation of joint and coordinated activity for strengthening and advancement of the protection of basic human rights, for the management of the process of returning Albanian citizens from former conflict countries, the institutional commitment of all state actors involved in this process, as well as the challenges encountered in this direction.
The representative of the Coordination Center for Countering Violent Extremism was Mrs. Fatilda Smajlaj, who spoke, among other things, about the work of this center related to the fight against violent extremism within the national plan related to the issues of violent extremism. She also emphasized the support that this institution offers to universities for raising awareness of the phenomenon of violent extremism, radicalism and terrorism, thanks to the cooperation with them.
The activities that will be held in the framework of this cooperation include: recognition, research and promotion among students of the values of tolerance, peace and coexistence of communities with cultural, ethnic, religious diversity, etc.;
Also within the framework of this cooperation agreement, the improvement/recognition and professional training of candidates for practicing the profession of teacher, psychologist, social worker, public administration, journalism, through the findings of scientific research activities, on the identification of individuals and the factors that promote radicalism are also aimed and violent extremism in the community. Part of this cooperation agreement is the creation of a forum against these phenomena.
During the meeting, the parties expressed their willingness to cooperate for the design, application and/or implementation of joint projects, as well as for the development of any type of activity..
