During November, the CVE Center held a series of information and awareness meetings with mayors and prefects in some of the regions of the country, in the framework of raising awareness on preventing and combating radicalism and violent extremism. With the support of the OSCE Security Department, meetings were held from 23-27 November 2020 with the Mayors of Kukës, Dibra, Bulqiza, Mat, and Shkodra, as well as with the Prefects of these regions, where they were also present social service leaders at the local level. During these meetings, the achievements, needs and requests for support in addressing the phenomenon of violent extremism by the local government were presented, and the need for community engagement in preventing this phenomenon through engagement and empowerment of young people in decision-making processes such as and through the Local Public Safety
Council.
