The Director of the Coordination Center for Countering Violent Extremism, Mrs. Lejdi Dervishi, contributed to the conference panel organized by the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), on the topic: “Paradigm Change in Afghanistan” – Human Security, Transnational Crime and Terrorism: Old, New Threats and Emergency Threats security regarding the establishment of the Taliban Caliphate”. The conference discussed the impact of the Afghan crisis in the Western Balkans, security and economic issues in our region.
Mrs. Dervishi presented the role of the CVE Center in the framework of its mission in preventing the phenomenon of violent extremism as well as in carrying out the process of reintegration and rehabilitation for repatriates from the former war camps, Syria and Iraq and in receiving and accommodating the Afghan refugees in Albania during the period August – September 2021, pursuant to the decision of the Albanian Government.
During her speech, the Director of the CVE Center focused on one of the most important issues for the work and vision of the CVE Center which is the drafting of the National Strategy for the Prevention of Violent Radicalism and Extremism 2022 – 2026 and the Action Plan 2022-2024, as well as the impact that the new Strategy will have on the current situation in Albania. A special point of the discussion was also strengthening border policies to combat illegal migration in order to reduce threats to security in the country.
