From February 24 to 28, two regional activities were held in Split, Croatia as part of the implementation of the European project “Enhancing protection of public spaces and critical infrastructure in the Western Balkans”, funded by the European Union and organized by CIVIPOL with the coordination of the CVE Center for the Albanian institutions.
– Regional workshop on the protection of public spaces, focusing on “Methods of detection, identification and neutralization of UAS, as well as on the use of UAS in the protection of public spaces”.
– Regional workshop on the protection of critical infrastructure, focusing on “Training key actors on Resilience plan design and on the technical, security and organizational measures to ensure critical entities resilience.”
These activities presented various practices from EU countries (Italy, Croatia, and Greece) concerning resilience plan, risk assessment methodologies, the protection of critical infrastructure, development of security plans, and data collection within the framework of the “CER” (Critical Entity Resilience) methodology. Furthermore, discussions addressed the harmonization of national legislation with EU directives regarding the use of drones for the protection of public spaces.
The workshops were attended by representatives of the Albanian State Police (ASP), the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy (MIE), the National Civil Protection Agency (AKMC), and the CVE Center.
