On March 17, 2023, a forum was organized in the premises of the Department of Education Sciences, Aleksander Xhuvani University, Elbasan, on the topic: “Universities, the new front of CVE – consolidation and expansion of the involvement of university education in the fight against violent extremism”.

Participants in this forum were: Mrs. Alma Paspali, Coordination Center for Countering Violent Extremism, Ms. Alba Cela, Executive Director, Institute of International Studies, Mr. Albert Rakipi, President, AIIS (Albanian Institute for International Studies) as well as lecturers and students of the university Aleksander Xhuvani.

In this activity, the presentation of the project was developed, which aims at the further consolidation and expansion of university education in the fight against the phenomenon of radicalism and violent extremism. Pupils and students remain the most vulnerable age group in terms of the impact that different elements of violent extremism, radicalism and terrorism have on them and in this way the inclusion in education and more information about violent extremism and the fight against it becomes necessary.

After the presentation of the project: “Universities, the new front of CVE – consolidating and expanding the involvement of university education in the fight against violent extremism”, the panel discussed the driving factors, the legal framework and the role of institutions. The factors of religious radicalism in Albania are one of the key elements that have influenced the radicalization of these young people through different ways and paths. It was also discussed about the multi-agency approach of the Coordination Center for Countering Violent Extremism as one of the most important elements in the fight against radicalism and violent extremism through the coordination of all actors involved in the process. The CVE Center is already a consolidated institution with several years of experience in the field of violent extremism which has given and continues to give its contribution to issues related to terrorism, violent extremism or radicalism based on the national strategy against violent extremism.
