The Director of the Coordination Center for Countering Violent Extremism, Mr. Denion Meidani, has conducted an official visit together with representatives of the center to several institutions in the Republic of Kosovo.

Meeting with the Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo Mr. Xhelal Zveçla.

During this meeting, the emphasis was placed on the increase of bilateral cooperation, the exchange of information and the establishment of systems for the monitoring of persons returned from the conflict zones of Syria and Iraq in order to prevent and fight against violent extremism.

Also, Minister Zveçla expressed his support for increasing and strengthening cooperation between the two institutions in the prevention and the fight against violent extremism, as well as any bilateral and regional initiative for this purpose.

Workshop at the Directorate of the Department of Public Security in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kosovo with the director Mr. Mensur Hoti and representatives of the Division for Prevention and Re-integration of the Returnees.

During this workshop, it was discussed about the increase of bilateral cooperation, the exchange of information and the systems built for the monitoring of persons returned from the conflict zones of Syria and Iraq in order to prevent and counter violent extremism.

The CVE center is in ongoing coordination with the IOM for the construction of a “database” data management system in our country as it is already established in Kosovo, based on the fact that the creation of such a data management system in the system of penal institutions in our country is very important for the fulfillment of the Center’s mission and the countering violent extremism.

Meeting with the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Kosovo, Mr. Armend Mehaj.

During this meeting, the parties discussed the security situation in the country and the region, the negative impact that individuals with radical behavior have on the region, as well as the risk of radicalization of individuals or groups, which bring instability to the creation of a peaceful and safe environment.

Special importance during the discussion placed on education as the primary link as well as on the co-existence between communities respecting the rights of everyone.

Meeting with Mr. Lulzim Fushtica, representative of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Kosovo, as well as with the Ambassador of Norway for Kosovo and Albania, HE Jens Erik Grøndahl.

During the meeting with Mr. Fushtica, it has been discussed the growth and strengthening of the bilateral cooperation in projects, supporting the activity and mission of the CVE Center.

Regarding the meeting with the Ambassador of Norway, H.E Grøndahl informed by the Director of the CVE Center, Mr. Denion Meidani, about the activity and mission of this center. Also, based on the fact that Ambassador Grøndahl also covers our country in his diplomatic activity for the Nordic countries, he was asked to increase the cooperation between the Coordination Center Against Violent Extremism and the Nordic Institutions for the Prevention and the Fight against Violent Extremism and Terrorism.

Part of the official visit to the Republic of Kosovo were also Fatilda Smajlaj, head of the division for the Education and Research and Mr. Ermal Jauri, head of the division for the Civil Society and Security, at the CVE Center.
