The Director of the Coordination Center for Countering Violent Extremism, Mrs. Lejdi Dervishi, contributed to the regional conference on how “to improve the practices which prevent radicalization and counter violent extremism in prisons and staff training for Western Balkans” organized by The Council of Europe (CoE).
During the conference, Mrs. Dervishi referred to the issue of the future challenges of the Western Balkans regarding the return of foreign fighters and their families, focusing on cases that can be prosecuted through the criminal justice system.
The conference sessions were held from May 17-18 in Montenegro within the regional project “Increasing penitentiary capacity in addressing prison radicalism in the Western Balkans”.
The project is funded by the EU and the CoE and implemented by the CoE within the Horizontal Facility Instrument II.
