

On 2-3 June 2026, the 24th Meeting of the Governing Board of the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (GCERF) was held in Geneva. Albania was represented by the National Coordinator for Preventing and Countering Violent Extremism, Ms. Lejdi Dervishi.
The meeting brought together representatives of partner countries, donors, and international organizations, focusing on advancing the global prevention agenda and identifying strategic priorities for the period ahead.
Ms. Dervishi emphasized the importance of inter-institutional cooperation and partnerships with communities and international actors, presenting Albanian experience in the field of rehabilitation and reintegration as a model that ensures sustainability and delivers tangible results. This model is implemented through the coordination of the CVE Center, which operates under the umbrella of the Ministry of Interior.
Discussions emphasised the importance of sustaining investments in prevention, underlining community based approaches and the role of civil society organizations in implementing preventive programmes, as well as the use of evidence to inform international policies and processes.
Particular attention was given to emerging challenges, especially the impact of the digital space the growing complexity of factors contributing to radicalization, highlighting the need for strengthened, tailored and inclusive preventive approaches.
In conclusion, the meeting reaffirmed the importance of strengthening international cooperation and expanding partnerships to enhance the impact of preventive programmes and further advance the global agenda against violent extremism.
