Informative activity and training on “With schools for safe communities”.

On the 26th and 27th of November 2018, in the premises of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST) of the Republic of Kosovo, was carried out informative activity and training on “With schools for safe communities”.

The event was facilitated with the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM – Kosovo Office) and was organized by MEST, within the framework of the Regional Cooperation with the CVE Albania and Kosovo Center, with the contribution of the Coach Coordinator Group of violent offenses against Albania.

Participants and beneficiaries of information and training activities were teachers and managers of various education schools, school psychologists and social workers, employees of local education institutions and MEST specialists.

Participants were briefed on the 2017-2020 Action Plan to Prevent Violent Extremism and Radicalization leading to terrorism, as well as Albania’s experience in the field of fight and preventive measures taken against violent extremism by the CVE Center, in particular with what has been developed by Albanian education towards the education against violence in school environments, education for resolving conflicts peacefully, education for intercultural and interreligious understanding etc.

Participants were involved in practical activities which gave them the opportunity to share with each other and trainers the experience and context of Kosovo in this regard. From this point of view, the meeting served to train participants with the methodology of education for democratic citizenship and, in particular, to deal with controversies that are a permanent companion to tackling issues related to extremism, religion, conflicts and cultural diversity in general.
