Workshop on the Country needs assessment to identify key needs for the Prevention of Violent Extremism, Repatriation and Rehabilitation

Director of The Coordination Center for Countering Violent Extremism (The CVE Center), Mrs. Lejdi Dervishi, coontributed in a meeting with the topic “Assessment of the needs of the country to see the main importance for the Prevention of Violent Extremism, Repatriation and Rehabilitation in Albania”. The meeting focused on the importance of an integrated multi-disciplinary and multi-violent approach to the prevention of extreme extremism (ESD), the provision of R&R action for returnees from conflict zones, as well as social cohesion links.

The meeting was organized by the Peace Volunteering Network (PVN), supported by the Global Community Engagement and Resilience Fund (CERF), in collaboration with The Coordinating Center for Countering Violent Extremism. The purpose of the meeting was to present the findings of the National Study on “Needs Assessment for the Prevention of Violent Extremism, as well as Rehabilitation and Reintegration Processes in Albania”.

The study, carried out at the national level by the local partner PVN, includes an extensive analysis of the legal, institutional context and processes of Rehabilitation and Reintegration, as well as changes in perception in relation to radicalism and violent extremism.

Mr. Gianluigi Lopes, Country Manager and representative of GCERF, emphasized the main need for the support and funding of this study to guide future investment strategies in Albania, aiming to increase GCERF’s support for the country. Ms. Lejdi Dervishi, Director of The CVE Center, underlined the importance of continuous support from GCERF for the Rehabilitation and Reintegration processes, as well as for the implementation of a common strategic framework for the prevention of radicalism and violent extremism.

The work session was characterized by the generation of ideas and initiatives for addressing long-term challenges, engaging all stakeholders in this field.

The study brought a detailed analysis of needs, challenges, and opportunities, and proposed a series of recommendations for the main actors in the conduct of policies, dealing with mechanisms, challenges and opportunities, as well as for the prevention of violent extremism in Albania for the processes. of Rehabilitation and Reintegration (R&R).
