The Coordination Center for Countering Violent Extremism (The CVE Center) participated in the two-day interactive training programme, organized by the Department of Transnational Threats of the OSCE – The Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, in cooperation with the OSCE Presence in Albania, focusing on media and information literacy in the context of preventing and countering violent extremism and radicalization that lead to terrorism (P/CVERLT).

The welcoming speech at this meeting was held by the Deputy Minister of Interior, Mr. Besfort Lamallari, who emphasized the need for a unified communication strategy and regulatory measures. The activity was also greeted by the National Coordinator/Director of the CVE Center, Mrs. Lejdi Dervishi, Mr. Fejzo Numanaj, the Acting Head of the TNTD Action against Terrorism Unit, Department of Transnational Threats of the OSCE Secretariat in Vienna as well as the Chairman of the OSCE Presence in Albania, Mr. Michel Tarran.

The event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including policymakers and government officials at the local, regional and national levels, as well as from the security and education sectors. Additionally, the programme included civil society organizations working on P/CVERLT and human rights, as well as private sector and media experts to tackle the pressing issues of misinformation, disinformation and malign information (collectively referred to as “information disorder”) in the digital realm.

Actors who participated in the training reflected on their current roles in addressing the challenges created by a chaotic, unclear information environment as well as promoting media/information literacy, particularly in the context of P/CVERLT.

This training aimed to build resilience against the challenges to fostering a safe and inclusive digital environment, enhancing social cohesion, and ensuring community-oriented and human rights-centred approaches in P/CVERLT efforts.
